Job/Person Summary

We are looking for efficient and enthusiastic members of staff to join our school as casual bank staff working in our Holiday Club as an Extended Care Assistant. This is a part-time casual position for school holiday time only and the hours will be flexible based on numbers of children attending the club. This post would suit someone with experience in extended care or childcare provision and/or someone who is currently training to work with children.  


Duties will include:

• To implement agreed work and play programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the setting. 

• Assist the Extended Care Manager in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources 

• To supervise groups of children under the instruction of the Extended Care Manager.  

• Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations

• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the setting

• Support children consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs 

• Encourage children to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all children in activities

• Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance

• Be responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with the Extended Care Manager, contributing to reviews of systems/records as requested

• Promote positive values, attitudes and good behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage children to take responsibility for their own behaviour

• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person

• Liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers as agreed with the Extended Care Manager within your role/responsibility and participate in feedback sessions/meetings with parents with, or as directed 

• Participate in training and other learning activities as required

• To undertake other duties, appropriate to the grade, as may reasonably be required.

Our School

Welcome to Edith Moorhouse Primary School

We are a popular primary school in the Oxfordshire town of Carterton. We currently have just about 300 pupils, with about one third of those pupils coming from Service Families with one or more parent serving at RAF Brize Norton.

In April 2017 we converted to academy status as part of the River Learning Trust.

We are proud of our caring and nurturing approach to education and our school ethos is based on our Core Values. Visitors to our school comment that there is a calm and industrious atmosphere and that the children are polite and respectful. All pupils, staff, parents, governors and members of our local community feel listened to and contribute to our strong school community.
