Job overview

The Bulwell Academy is an 11-18 academy serving families in and around the Bulwell area of Nottingham. We are part of a family of schools that make up the Creative Education Trust and are on an exciting journey to raise standards and ensure we do all that is needed to help the young people we serve to succeed. They deserve an exemplary education and we’re committed to delivering it. Here at The Bulwell Academy, we want the absolute best for every student, and we believe this is best delivered via the highest expectations of every one of our school community members, encouraging all students to aim high and never stop believing in themselves and what they can achieve. This is made possible through our knowledge rich curriculum offer, our CET Knowledge Connected Programme, our clear and concise Behaviour for Learning Policy and our Attitude to Learning Rewards Programme.

We are seeking to appoint a Care Assistant to assist students with their day-to-day personal care needs and to work alongside other professional staff to further students’ independence skills. The post holder will work as part of a team to develop personal care programmes for students and to assist students in implementing their own personal care programmes during the school day, specifically in relation to practical support for personal hygiene, toileting and continence, eating and drinking, mobilising and transferring students, and therapeutic programmes, e.g., SALT/OT/Physiotherapy.

We are looking for applicants who have successful experience of working with children and young people with disabilities, in either a school, nursery, health, or care setting, along with knowledge of personal care procedures and physical disabilities and an awareness of the range of learning and physical needs of young people. The ability to form effective working relationships with students, parents/carers, colleagues, and external agencies is essential.

We are a school that encourages all young people to take responsibility for their actions as we help our students to become independent young adults with confidence and self-belief, striving to fulfill their ambitions and dreams. You will therefore need to have unwavering belief in all young people and their aspirations and want to help them succeed.

As an employee of the Creative Education Trust, you will benefit from a highly competitive career package which includes:

  • High quality professional development
  • Regular training to develop your skills and knowledge
  • A tailored induction programme to meet your needs and ongoing support from an experienced and skilled team

In addition to the opportunities for training and development, we also offer a competitive rewards and benefits package, which includes access to:

  • The Perkbox platform that brings employee benefits, discounts, wellbeing, and staff recognition
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Scheme provided by Health Assured
  • Bike2Work Scheme - where you can save up to 42% on the cost of bicycles and/or equipment

Closing date: Monday 27 March at 9am

Creative Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake relevant safeguarding

The Bulwell Academy is a dynamic and ambitious secondary school at the heart of Nottingham, committed to delivering an exceptional education for every young person. Led by Principal Matt Irons, the Academy is entering an exciting new chapter - one rooted in high expectations, strong values, and a deep sense of community.

As Matt Irons shares, “Our mission is clear: to make The Bulwell Academy the school of choice - a place where every student and member of staff feels proud and privileged to belong.” This vision underpins daily life at the Academy and drives our relentless focus on improvement.

Our core values - Aspire, Work Hard, Be Kind - define who we are. They shape our culture, guide behaviour, and support students to become confident, compassionate, and ambitious individuals. We believe academic success and personal development go hand in hand, and we empower students to take responsibility for their learning, actions, and future pathways.

A calm, orderly, and purposeful learning environment is fundamental to success. At The Bulwell Academy, we maintain the highest standards - across teaching, behaviour, and pastoral care - so every student can thrive and feel safe, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.

We are proud to be part of the Creative Education Trust, a growing network of 17 schools educating over 13,500 children and young people across England. The Trust shares a powerful belief: that every child has talent, every community has strength, and every school can be a place where excellence thrives. Through collaboration, shared expertise, and purposeful leadership, Trust schools create rich and inclusive curricula that build knowledge, nurture creativity, and prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

Strong partnerships with parents and carers are central to our success. The Bulwell Academy is truly a school in the community, for the community - committed to unlocking opportunity, inspiring ambition, and transforming lives through education.

If you are seeking to be part of a school with a clear moral purpose, high expectations, and a supportive professional culture, The Bulwell Academy offers an exciting and rewarding place to grow your career.
