This role will be based cross-cluster primarily based out of Arden College in Southport, however you will also support at Oliver House School and Progress School in Preston.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver effective and individualised Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance to students aged between 16-25 with SEND at all stages of their education journey.
  • Lead on sourcing and developing work placements for students.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the correct procedures are in place for work placements, including employers H&S and work placement risk assessments.

Essential requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence
  • A Level 6 Diploma in Careers Information and Advice (or Level 4 and prepared to work towards Level 6)
  • Experience in at least one area of delivery of careers advice to 16-19, Higher Education, Adult Learners
  • Knowledge and previous experience of working with young people with SEND
  • Experience of working with young people with a learning difficulty/ disability during transition, promoting high aspirations and securing positive outcomes
  • Knowledge of available career resources, websites, online information sources
  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritising skills

Arden College is situated in the heart of Southport, a vibrant and cultured town on the west coast of Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended and college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. The college is a co-educational residential and day specialist college for students aged 16-25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities and or behavioural and social difficulties. Individual College programmes of day or residential support are available as either 38 or 52 week placements for up to a three year period and are subject to regular reviews to ensure student needs are being met. The focus is to ensure that learners are prepared for independent adult life as much as is possible
