We are seeking to appoint two Careers & Transition Officers within the Careers element of the New Horizons Inclusion Team. As a new addition to the London South East Academies Trust, we have three successful schools deemed either ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’; Endeavour Academy, Horizons Academy and Aspire Academy. As a Careers & Transition Officer you will be driven to deliver high level careers advice in an innovative, structured manner in order to ensure students are fully informed and confident in making appropriate and confident post statutory choices. The successful candidate will also deliver and work in various forms, to maintain the established post statutory voluntary programme.  All students who complete their education with us receive support and guidance until they reach the age of 18, in order to maintain our student placements in education, employment and training and prevent their disengagement from those areas (NEET).

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school  therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.

About Horizons Academy Bexley

Horizons provides high quality support to pupils in Key Stages 1–4 who have been permanently excluded (or are at risk of exclusion) from mainstream school. 

We focus on early intervention, offering a range of services from short term respite to longer term education for students in KS4. Our expert team works intensively with post-16 pupils to secure destinations whilst providing ongoing support. This helps ensure that all pupils can maintain their educational placements, training programmes and/or employment.

Our aim in Key Stages 1–3 is to re-integrate pupils back into a mainstream or specialist school via our ‘Refocus programme’. We work closely with external agencies and our partner schools to identify the needs of the child and develop the child’s own ability to learn, so that they feel confident about being in the classroom.

We have created an environment and developed a curriculum which supports our pupils to become well rounded citizens and able to productively contribute to the community. We want all our young people to feel confident about their future and in their own ability to live a successful, meaningful life.
