Job overview

The Whitby High School is a highly successful 11-18 foundation school with 1600 students on roll including a thriving sixth form.

Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated caretaker to work as part of a team who are responsible for the ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the school premises.   The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the lighting and heating systems are in good working order, carrying out minor repair work, portering and cleaning duties.

The caretaker will be a key holder and as such must be able to attend the school within 20 minutes should the occasion arise.  Working hours are 6am – 2pm and 2pm – 10pm on a fortnightly rota, but flexible working is vital and the successful candidate is expected to work with the team to cover the absence of other team members between the opening hours of 6am through to 10pm.  Weekend work will also be required for which overtime is paid.

The successful applicant will be proactive and is expected to initiate work and respond to the day-to-day demands of the school with minimal supervision.

Training will be available if required.

Closing date for the post: 9:00am, Friday 27th September 2019

Our school community places the highest priority on keeping our children safe.  Applicants for all posts will be subject to stringent vetting and induction processes.

The Whitby High School is an equal opportunities employer.
