Carpentry and Joinery (C&J) Assessor  

Salary: £29,952 fte

Hours: up to 37 hours per week; part time contracts also available; working hours are flexible

Location: Highbury College, Portsmouth

Holiday: The post is entitled to 24 days leave per year plus the 3 days in the period between 24th December and 2nd January each year totalling 27 days of leave plus bank holidays. Additional leave is accrued upon length of service.

Highbury College has an opening for a positive and enthusiastic individual who has or is working towards a Carpentry qualification to Level 3 or above and who is looking to work as a C&J Assessor.  

No previous experience of working in education or as an assessor is necessary, Highbury College will provide the training necessary for you to embark on this rewarding career.

The main duties of this post are:

To mentor, guide and assess C&J Apprentices in their workplace to ensure they can demonstrate and evidence progression towards acquiring the skills and competencies to become a Carpenter and/or Joiner 

To work and liaise closely with the Employer of the Apprentice to ensure the apprentice is fulfilling the needs of both the employer and the apprenticeship framework.

Monitoring and recording of the apprentice’s progression

Assisting with related activities including attendance at open evenings and from time to time signing up the apprentice.
