Job overview

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


1. To provide a cashier service to staff and students.


2. To process all student payments and recording the information onto the student record system.


3. To provide accurate advice, guidance and fee assessment for course fees to all students.


4. To provide accurate instalment plans to all students with outstanding fees.


5. To assist with the enrolment process.


6. To assist Credit Control team with collecting outstanding fees from students.


7. Process and prepare all Canteen income for banking.


8. Responsible for recording daily takings onto cash sheets and entering the information onto the College finance system.


9. To assist with preparing all financial transactions for cash and banking in a timely manner.


10. Record all banking and Vat transactions on spreadsheets for reconciliation purposes.


11. To issue petty cash payments and reconcile all transactions on a weekly basis.


12. To administer the application of refunds and process applications for payment.


13. To liaise with centre based staff to ensure that accurate and up-to-date information is being provided.


14. The post holder will be required to work 3 days a week: Monday to Wednesday 12.30pm - 19.30pm (including ½ hour lunch and 13.30pm - 5pm on Thursday (No lunch break. The late night’s shifts may change in accordance with the business needs.

15. Required to work flexibly and provide cover on a rota basis including :- (Saturday morning cover and during the enrolment process).


Other Duties and Responsibilities


a) Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College’s strategic aims.


b) Comply with college policies and procedures and health and safety regulations.


c) Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare.


d) Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation.


e) Participate in the College’s Appraisal scheme and undertake any training as required.


f) Support and actively participate in the implementation of the College’s Equal Opportunity policies.


g) Undertake your duties to comply with the requirement of internal and external quality standards.


h) Attend meetings at the request of your line manager to ensure efficient communication within the college.


i) All employees of South & City College Birmingham are required to engage in organisation required CPD (Continuous Professional Development) and to maintain an ISAR (Individual Self Assessment Report) file.


j) Carry out any reasonable instructions which involve additional duties commensurate with the level and grading of this post


k) To ensure the College’s Financial Regulations and procedures are adhered to.


l) Demonstrate commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
