North Star Academy Trust based in North Bristol specialising in supporting pupils experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We aim to be part of a joined-up provision offering our pupils the outstanding education they deserve.

We are seeking to appoint Catch Up Tutor to provide intensive support to our pupils who have experienced significant disruption to their education due to Covid-19 and as a result of on-going non or poor attendance. This will involve initially working with pupils in their homes, with continued work in school for those who do attend. The role will support the delivery of the curriculum from KS1-KS4 for this academic year as part of the North Star Catch Up Strategy.  

This is a fixed term post starting as soon as possible, subject to relevant recruitment checks, until July 2022.  We would welcome applications for those also looking for full or part time hours. The post is suitable for committed teacher or tutor who specialise in English and/or Maths and are enthusiastic, passionate about their subject and have high expectations of all pupils. Applications from qualified or unqualified teachers with relevant teaching or tutoring experience and qualifications are welcomed.  The successful applicant will need to have a vehicle available and will be reimbursed for costs linked to use. 

In this role you will be able to support students from a wide range of backgrounds aiding them in reaching their full potential. Identifying gaps in age related learning and helping the students catch up on any potentially missed learning. 

We are looking for tutors who ideally have experience in also supporting students with their emotional and mental wellbeing alongside developing their skills in mathematics and literacy. Your role will be to deliver tuition to identified students, in small groups or on a one to one basis

The successfully appointed person will work across the year groups providing additional and targeted support to pupils in English and maths. The suitable candidate will report to the relevant Curriculum Team Leader and have the ability to understand the sequence of teaching and learning in the subject, and communicate such information to pupils. A good knowledge of the KS2 objectives in these subjects will be essential.
