Catch Up Tutor – (full/part time, term time only, with the possibility of additional weeks during College holidays, Fixed Post until July 2022)

Hours will be worked as and when required by agreement, between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm for up to 37 hours per week, term time only with the possibility of additional weeks during College holidays.

Some of this work will be supporting students after college, at weekends or during college holidays.

You will work with groups of students who have been adversely impacted by the Covid pandemic, enabling those students to reach their full academic potential including:

• Delivering sessions to groups of students who have been identified as under-performing, focusing on achieving their academic potential. 

• Planning, preparing and delivering catch-up sessions for groups of students, that are engaging and that enable students to improve against their targets.

• Monitoring the implementation of all plans and providing feedback to the students about their progress and achievement.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have a Teaching qualification or are qualified by relevant experience.

• Have experience of working with students in the 16 – 18 age range. Sixth Form College experience would be advantageous.

• Understand classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.

• Understand learning, teaching and assessment processes.

Luton Sixth Form College is a specialist Sixth Form College, providing academic and general vocational education for 16 to 18 year olds in Luton.

Established in September 1966, we are the oldest Sixth Form College in the country and have an enviable reputation for quality and excellence. We are also one of the largest, with more than 2,800 students taking a vast array of A Level and BTEC courses.

Our mission is to provide an outstanding education for young people at the College, and to work with other local providers to ensure that there are opportunities for all young people in Luton to succeed and progress.

The College is located in a quiet residential area in the north of Luton, with easy access from the town centre, A505, A6 and M1. Our site was redeveloped between 2008 and 2010 and the original grammar school buildings were replaced by a £56m campus offering state-of-the-art facilities and modern resources for staff and students.
