Aims of Job/Job Purpose 

The post of catering assistant covers general catering duties providing a professional, friendly and efficient service to the students and staff of the college. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

1. To prepare food for sale at the location they are based.

2. To ensure a safe and proficient method of work.

3. To monitor and report all shortages in stock levels set out in the divisions procedures

4. To maintain the hygiene, cleanliness and safety of all the catering areas including: kitchens, food stores, refrigerators, freezers, washing up areas and cleaning store.

5. To work in a clean, tidy and organised environment, following cleaning rotas and procedures set out by manufacturers.

 

6. To ensure that appropriate Health and Safety and hygiene procedures are implemented and adhered to. 

 

7. To ensure that till operation, cash handling procedures are carried out accurately. 

 

8. Have flexibility to cover any areas that may benefit the team and customers. 

 

9. This is a public facing unit so you need to be able to build relationships and support the needs of the business. 

 

10. Provide first class customer service. 

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities 

 

a) Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College’s strategic aims. 

 

b) Comply with college policies and procedures and health and safety regulations. 

 

c) Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare. 

 

d) Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation. 

 

e) Participate in the College’s Appraisal scheme and undertake any training as required. 

 

f) Support and actively participate in the implementation of the College’s Equal Opportunity policies.
