Job overview

Trust SENCO - Leadership Spine 1-4 (£39,374-£42,398, as at Sep 2017)

The Central Schools Trust (CST) requires a SENCO to work across its two primary schools.

We are looking for applicants with previous experience working as a SENCO and who have already completed the National Award for SEN Coordination. They should also have demonstrated outstanding practice when in role as a classroom teacher.

The successful candidate will be part of the senior leadership team and will initially be based at Balsall Common Primary School. Longer term, this is a trust wide role, and will include cross-phase work.

This strategic role will include leading, developing and supporting effective practice for children with special and additional needs. There will be a heavy focus on developing teachers to provide 'quality first' teaching, supporting class teachers to remove barriers to learning and early identification of special need.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Understand how emotional well-being impacts on achievement
  • Have high standards and expectations of all
  • Be a good team player with a positive outlook
  • Possess energy, enthusiasm, resilience and a pro-active nature
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills
  • Show a willingness to try out new approaches and embrace changes
  • Be able to lead, motivate and inspire others
  • Demonstrate superb interpersonal, communication skills
  • Be innovative, creative and a strategic thinker
  • Have the ability to analyse data effectively to identify and track the progress of vulnerable groups/children

This post has no class responsibility, although the successful candidate would be expected to model and advise on outstanding classroom practice, particularly in terms of inclusion, and sometimes teach small groups of children.

Valuing and developing staff are key priorities. We want to work with highly motivated teachers who have a proven track record, or would like to develop a proven track record, of high outcomes for all children. We care about recruiting the right people, and about retaining them.  Consequently, we have a clear plan for developing employees through an employee development programme, which sets clear guidelines for career advancement from entry level to coordinator, manager and director positions. The support received from within our organisation will develop skills and experience which can be used as a stepping stone for future advancement.

We also treat our staff well by offering a variety of perks. These include corporate outings twice yearly, employee-recognition programmes and employee benefits.

  • Further details about this post can be found on our website www.centralschoolstrust.co.uk/vacancies/ or by contacting Maggie McPherson on s2mmcpherson@balsall-common.solihull.sch.uk, to whom completed applications should be returned.

We look forward to hearing from you.
