Canon Slade School is seeking to appoint a Chaplain in this very popular and successful Church of England Academy of 1,760 students (335 in the Sixth Form). Our students progress onto world-class universities and institutions to further study or gain apprenticeships and employment. Our aim is to fulfil individual potential and prepare pupils for life in a rapidly changing world by providing an excellent education within a Christian environment.
Canon Slade School is a member of the recently formed Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E multi academy trust established in 2017. This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the other three schools in the MAT - St James’s C of E High School, Bolton St Catherine’s Academy and most recently to join the Trust in January 2022 – Bury C of E High School; sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.

The main objectives of this role will be:
• To be our chaplain – and therefore to share with us the love of God in Christ for each member of the school;
• To lead us in worship in our chapels, assemblies, services, form rooms and classrooms;
• To be a key part of the pastoral team of the school, helping to provide a pastoral presence within the school community;
• To link us more widely with the churches in Bolton and further afield;
To support the spiritual and personal development of each person in our school.
The working hours will be:
The hours of work will be – Monday to Thursday: 8.00am to 4.00pm and Friday: 8.00am to 3.30pm – or by negotiation. Hours include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
The successful candidate will:
• is a person of faith and prayer with a deep commitment to the Anglican church
• has experience of working with secondary age students either in a school or its wider Church family
• is a great team player, friendly, and professional
• has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to form positive, professional and empathetic relationships with colleagues and students
• has the ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role
• demonstrates personal resilience and role models those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people

Canon Slade School is a mixed 11-18 voluntary aided Church of England secondary school and a member of The Bishop Fraser Multi Academy Trust. There are around 1700 pupils, including some 350 in the sixth form.
