Job overview

St Hilda's is a dynamic school community with a proud history of educating women to be self-reliant, confident and contributors to tomorrow. Regardless of position, all our employees play an integral role in school life to ensure we spark extraordinary futures for our students and staff.

St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls in Perth, Western Australia is seeking to appoint a Chaplain. This is a senior and highly respected position of leadership within our community offering unique, challenging and positive opportunities to develop the role.

The Anglican Church has a crucial place in the story of our school and will always be central to our identity. As a modern and forward-looking community, we have the highest regard for the religious tradition and heritage which has shaped us.

Our students regularly attend chapel and hear addresses from the Chaplain during various assemblies. Classes for girls wishing to be baptised or confirmed are offered. We have a special day for all who wish to begin receiving Holy Communion. We honour the seasons of the church, holding services at Easter and Christmas and we teach students about these seasons.

A major event in the life of the school is our annual celebration of St Hilda’s Day at St George’s Cathedral. All students and staff attend this joyful occasion within the mother church of the diocese.

We believe that people of every age search for meaning, and purpose and we treasure the link between this fundamental aspect of humanity and the richly diverse community of faith which is the Anglican Communion.

We are an inclusive school, and we believe that people of all faiths, backgrounds and communities deserve to be celebrated and supported.

The person who will become our Chaplain will require an appreciation that both Australian society and the church will continue to evolve and that we wish to change and grow with them. We are looking for a hope-filled person who will show kindness, understanding and a positive outlook on life to all with whom they relate. Our students face a challenging world which will offer exciting opportunities for people of faith, hope, and love to shape its development. We seek a chaplain who shares our inclusive vision as the journey of St Hilda’s unfolds.

Appointment to this position will be for a five-year period initially.

Our entire community is committed to providing a child-safe environment at St Hilda's. Accordingly, you will need to provide a current Working With Children's Clearance and National Police Clearance.
