MAIDWELL HALL
IAPS Co-Educational Boarding/Day Prep School
Chef/Cook
Required January 2022
The Appointment
We are looking for an experienced chef/cook to work as part of our small catering team on a full-time basis. Normal hours of work will be 42 per week. The vacancy offer afternoon and evening hours of work (1200 to 1900 for 6 days of the week) but there is flexibility within the team rota so candidates should not regard these hours as a reason for not applying. With the exception of the first three and last three days of terms there is a full entitlement to school holidays (8 weeks Summer, 4 weeks Christmas and Easter). The post offers a good salary. The same applies to half-term’s (2 weeks (Autumn), 1 week (Lent and Summer) and to our regular leave out weekends which run from 1230 on Fridays to 1930 on Mondays.
Applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to work well as part of a team but also to have the initiative to work by themselves. They will need to be multi-skilled and to be familiar with modern nutritional policy; they will need to have had appropriate training. An EHC level 2 award will be desirable but is not essential. The experience of catering for 120+ people and of working with fresh ingredients will be an advantage. It will also be an advantage to demonstrate experience with working in a school but this is not essential.

About Maidwell Hall School
Maidwell Hall is a co-educational boarding and day school, educating pupils from Reception through to Year 8. Situated in a beautiful part of Northamptonshire, pupils at Maidwell Hall are encouraged by a dedicated team of staff to make the most of the 40+ acres of parkland, woodlands, lake and sports fields. At the heart of the school estate is a 17th century manor house, and all these factors combine to provide the perfect place for young children to learn and grow throughout their formative years.
With a Pre-Prep which opened in 2020, Maidwell Hall is growing and currently educates 135 pupils: around 50% of pupils fortnightly or flexibly board. In September 2022, Maidwell Hall joined the Uppingham Group of Schools (UGS), and the recent merger starts the School’s next chapter, which will arguably be its most exciting and ambitious.
