06.30am – 15.00pm (Weekdays)

07.30am – 16.00pm (Weekdays)

09.30am -18.45pm (Weekends)

10.00am – 18.30pm (Weekdays)

 Role:

We are searching for a Chef to be involved in the day to day smooth running of the kitchen including the preparation, cooking and presentation of fresh food on a daily basis.

This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Collegiate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Collegiate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description. 


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • To be involved in the planning of menus for the school and outside school events 
  • Ensure all relevant kitchen documentation is completed when required 
  • Be actively involved in the stock take process and ensure adequate stock control and rotation is always maintained 
  • Take an active role in the running of the cookery clubs 
  • Plan menus for and run events such as Black-Tie Dinners, Open Days, etc. 
  • In the absence of the Stores Person ensure all deliveries are checked off against the delivery notes and any discrepancies brought to the attention of the Head Chef or Catering Manager 
  • Take the initiative on new menu ideas and produce innovative new menus with flair and imagination for the school and external events 
  • Attend all training when requested 
  • Comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety and COSHH requirements 
  • Liaise with pupils and staff regarding special dietary requirements 
  • Carry out any other duties required by the Head Chef or Catering Manager

 

The Appointed Candidate will have: 

  • Full UK Driving license with access to their own vehicle 
  • Good general level of education, to include GCSE, or equivalent in Maths and English 
  • Relevant qualifications relating to the advertised post 
  • First Aid qualification (Desirable) 
  • Experience of working within a similar role 
  • Experience of working in a school environment (Desirable) 
  • Experience of working with children (Desirable) 
  • Some knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to the role (Desirable) 
  • Knowledge of COSHH requirements
