Job overview

Providing meals to groups of staff and students for the seven-week duration of the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust’s Residential Trip in Vallon, The Ardeche, France

Salary: £450 per week. Camping accommodation and food included in the package

Contract: Fixed term from Saturday 3 June 2023 to Saturday 22 July 2023 (dates may be subject to minimal change)

Are you interested in joining us in one of the most beautiful regions in France, at an Outdoor Activity Adventure Camp to be part of the team that works to expand students’ horizons, transform self-esteem and improve life chances for all?

We are delighted to be making an appointment for a Chef for the duration of our annual seven-week outdoor Residential Trip to Vallon, France. The trip commences around the 3 June 2023 and runs until approximately 22 July 2023, exact dates to be confirmed. As the main designated Chef on camp you will prepare an exciting, nutritious and cost-effective meal each evening, ideally with a French theme, for approximately 60 people. Breakfast and lunch are basic and mostly managed by the Trust staff members, but your input and assistance may be minimally required as directed by the Trip Leaders. Although staff will be responsible for the students, you will be expected to behave in a professional manner and act as an adult role model at all times. You will be required to have a Food Hygiene certificate and will also ideally hold a current First Aid qualification, although this is not essential.

The ideal candidate will either be an experienced chef or someone who is studying towards gaining a catering qualification. You will be provided with transport to and from the site, camping accommodation (individual tent & air bed), all food for the duration of the trip and when not required for food preparation, you will have free time to relax in your own private space or take part in any of the exciting activities.

The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust believes that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness to staff and this has made for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people, and a supportive environment for staff.

If you have the drive to devise interesting meal plans that introduce well balanced meals with a French theme where possible, to groups of young people, and you are available for the full period across June and July, we would love to hear from you.

The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff, volunteers, visitors and contractors to share this commitment. Shortlisted applicants will undergo relevant checks in line with statutory guidance and all appointees will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We are a Trust of four academies, an alternative provision independent school and a University Technical College (UTC) based in West and North Yorkshire.

With a strong focus on resilience, growth mindset and Positive Discipline, the Rodillian ethos has helped to transform schools – from their culture to their Ofsted ratings – as well as the lives of students and teachers.

We are committed to doing things differently – creating schools that students want to attend, and where teachers want to work.

We raise aspiration levels for staff, students and schools by encouraging creativity in the classroom, and by giving our staff freedom to experiment with their teaching.

We strive to develop a growth mindset in each of our young people and our staff – a belief that intelligence is not fixed or inherited but can be improved if we learn from our mistakes and continually work hard.

All of this is guided by our Positive Discipline policy – a traditional approach to behaviour management, innovative curriculum design and excellence in teaching that delivers the best possible outcomes.

Our Academies are all clustered within 30 minutes travelling distance of one another, allowing us the ability to provide high quality networks and support.
