Job overview

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Chef to join our community to lead our College Tuckshop operations.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively to design a menu to meet the Smart Choices requirements, with a focus on offering meals which are prepared and cooked on site, using low fat, fresh ingredients. Catering for College meetings will also be required.

The successful applicant will need to have the ability to obtain a Food Safety Certificate and implement a Food Safety Plan.

The successful applicant will ideally be business focused to ensure correct operation of the facility as a whole.


St Michael’s College is a co-educational Catholic secondary College administered by Brisbane Catholic Education with an approximate enrolment of 900 students. We are recognised on the Gold Coast for our great successes in academic, cultural, sporting and vocational fields over the past 30 years. Our curriculum is broad, allowing for each student’s development across Academic, Spiritual, Vocational, Cultural and Sporting arenas.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • currently hold or be eligible to hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.


Estimated Start Date:
  Commencing February 2020

Position Tenure:   Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   12 months

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   5 days/wk (38 hrs/wk) Mon - Fri

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   School Services Staff Level 3 ($26.71 - $28.82 per hour)

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
