Tes is supporting the appointment of a Chemistry Teacher - Secondary - With potential Head of Department role to join a Academy based in Kuwait.

Established in 2005, the Academy is a BSO accredited school seeking to strengthen its provision for Early Years Foundation Stage pupils. The school presently caters for pupils from Pre-KG to Year 10.

They plan to add another year level each year until they become a fully 3-18 British International School. The recent move into a purpose-built, state-of-the-art building reflects the owners and senior leaders’ ambition to achieve excellence.

They are seeking a qualified and experienced Chemistry Teacher to join them and their team of Specialist Subject Teachers. Applicants must be fluent English speaking graduates who hold a UK Department for Education teacher reference number or equivalent non-UK qualifications, or be in their final year of training.

What you offer

You are fully conversant with Key Stage 3 Science and IGCSE Chemistry. You are a teacher who can reflect upon and adapt practice to deliver quality lessons thereby raising attainment, giving pupils confidence and encouraging independent learning. 

Essential requirements:  

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related subject and a certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed. PGCE, PGDE or equivalent. 
  • Expert knowledge of your subject area as evidenced by your experience and passion in teaching English.
  • IGCSE/GCSE experience
  • Proven UK teaching experience or international experience within a British curriculum-based, BSO-accredited school. 
  • Promoting safeguarding of all students and equality of opportunity for all students and staff.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.  
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and build good relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.  
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and/or police check.

Desirable:  

  • IGCSE Edexcel experience
  • Google Workspace for Education certified
  • Knowledge and experience with student management information systems (iSAMs, SIMS, etc)
  • Familiarity with initiatives such as Philosophy for Children and Growth Mindset.
