About The British School of Valencia - Primary Campus

The British School of Valencia is a British educational institution situated in the centre of the city of Valencia which began in 1989. It is the result of the personal initiative and desire, on the part of the management, to further academic achievement, backed up by enormous experience in educational centres. On observing the evolution of educational needs today, they decided to offer a different model for learning, building the project around two basic pillars: those of respect and tolerance. The goal was to create an environment where a child's personal development would be a constant goal throughout their school life, allowing them to consolidate learning in a foreign language from a very early age and thus responding to the growing demands of today's society.

The choice of a British education, whose values are widely recognised, leads us to affirm, 15 years on, that we are attaining our objectives. The faith that a great number of families put in us by entrusting their children's education to the school, as well as the ever-increasing number of new pupils, is a confirmation of the success of this project.
Although the centre's educational model has always been one designed for pupils of 2 to 18 years of age, the school initially opened its doors only to children in the Foundation Stage, thus incorporating a new set of students with each passing year. This model of development takes time to build up but it has allowed us to ensure the correct application of the educational model we had designed. It is a source of great pride to be able to observe how the boys and girls who started their school lives with us all those years ago are now young adults with a fine academic preparation who are about to take IGCSEs or begin "A" level study.

In 1994, the centre went through a major period of expansion. Whilst maintaining the original site as one of its main assets, a new two-storey building was erected incorporating a second playground area with sports facilities and equipment, as well as other areas designed to cater for all the needs of Primary education.

In following years the number of pupils continued to increase. In 1996, the centre catered for more than 200 pupils and throughout this period, constant improvements and incorporations were made to the existing installations. In 1999, new buildings were added to house what is now the Secondary school, an area which is endowed with classes equipped with modern audio-visual resources, science laboratories, an Art room, a library, an IT room, a WI-FI zone where all classrooms have access to an Intranet system as a n added resource available to teachers and pupils alike.

However, the growth and improvement of our installations has been constant since the school began and proof of this was the inauguration in September 2004 of new classrooms and play areas incorporated to enhance resources for the Primary school and provide a play area which now covers an area of around 2000m².
The British School of Valencia is now widely-known, largely thanks to positive news spread by the growing numbers of families who year after year allow us to aid them in the all-important task of providing their children with the finest education possible.

Since it was founded in 1989, the British School of Valencia has aimed to offer students an excellent academic background and life education as fundamental characteristics of its educational model. Based on the English educational model, our teaching and training activities reinforce the ties between Spanish and British culture, encouraging the integration of our students, and stimulating the person from the academic and personal point of view. Our students sit the University of Cambridge exams and enjoy a series of suitable facilities, which are constantly being expanded, designed to support the learning process.

In addition to English as the language used in learning, our students of course learn Spanish, French as the second foreign language for all students, and we plan to offer the possibility of, additionally and optionally, choosing between German and Italian during the Secondary Education stage.
