Job overview

International House London (IH London) is a long-established language school and a founder member of the International House World Organisation. The British Council UK Accreditation 2018 inspection ranked IH London in the top 1% of UK language schools, with the highest score in fourteen out of fifteen categories.

From its recently refurbished and wholly owned premises in Covent Garden, London delivers a broad range of English and foreign-language tuition, teacher training and CPD. A growing programme of young learner courses is offered through centres in Oxford, Shropshire and Shanghai, with plans in place for six locations by 2020. International growth prospects have been enhanced with the opening of a Shanghai office.

High-quality teaching and pedagogical innovation are central to the IH London brand, and each year the School welcomes more than 8,000 language students from some 150 countries.

IH London is a not-for-profit organisation with a charitable mission, but it competes against private providers in a rapidly changing and increasingly challenging market. The Chief Executive will work with the Board of Trustees and lead a newly refreshed senior team in creating and implementing the strategic plan that will ensure the School’s continued success.

Externally, the Chief Executive will be a tireless advocate and ambassador for IH London, raising its global profile and strengthening its partnerships with government, business, and the wider education sector.

The Chief Executive will bring a significant and successful track record of transformational leadership, along with first-rate communication skills. S/he will also have an instinctive ability to balance IH London’s educational mission with the need to run an efficient and financially sustainable business.
