Job overview

Shape our community; shape our future!

It is rare to find a role that combines so many fantastic challenges, but the Chief Executive post at Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) is such an opportunity.

CELT, now one of the largest learning providers in the south west of England, is at the start of a new journey following the merger of two successful trusts, the Peninsula Learning Trust (PLT) and Newquay Education Trust (NET).

We are looking to appoint an exceptional leader to meet our short and long-term ambitions.  We need someone capable of shaping the new identity that will be CELT by working together with the two predecessor trusts.  The ability to lead strategically CELT’s diverse multi-academy trust whose catchment area spans 25% of Cornwall’s community will be important.  As will your experience of showing that you can strike the right inward and outward focus that promotes excellence while engaging key stakeholders in the wider community.

We pride ourselves on our child-centred approach where young people are truly at the heart of everything we do.  Our new Chief Executive will promote this important principle.  Furthermore, your repertoire of skills will include the ability to empower and support staff to inspire all our young people to raise their aspirations and reach their goals.

The ideal candidate may be a professional from an education background at Executive Head or CEO level looking to take on a bigger challenge.  Equally, you may have limited exposure to education but be operating in a quality assured, multi-site environment with the propensity to absorb information about the education arena quickly.  Irrespective of your background, you will be ambitious for improving the life chances of young people in Cornwall and possess the strategic nous and vision that will take people with you.

To discuss this opportunity further please contact Michael Watson on michael.watson@tes.com or call 020 3194 3473.

Closing: Monday 12th November at 9am

Interviews: 4th & 5th December

CELT is committed to safeguarding the welfare of its students and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure.

“Learning together to help every child achieve more.”

We are a large and dynamic multi-academy trust educating over 7,500 children and young people across Mid-Cornwall from Newquay on the Atlantic Coast to St Austell on the south coast. Our approach is simple: pupil learning is at the centre of everything we do, and we are focused above all on making teaching in our academies as good as it can be. Every CELT academy is deeply committed not to ensuring that all children receive the same thing, but that every child gets what he or she needs in order to develop their unique potential and succeed in life. We want to establish CELT as a family of academies in which every child thrives, and in which excellence is achieved through equity.
