Closing date: 27th February 2023

Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is a national education charity and one of the largest multi academy trusts (MAT) in England, underpinned by our founder Peter Murray’s belief that every child should be given a chance to thrive. With almost 5,000 staff and over 30,000 pupils across 43 academies, we have been around since 2009 making us one of the longest established trusts.

We serve pupils from a wide range of communities, all with their unique character, strengths and challenges. Our sole purpose is to provide OAT pupils with excellent learning opportunities, inside and outside the classroom, and we are determined that every one of the young people we serve, whether they attend our primary, secondary, special or alternative provision academies, will be given the opportunity to realise their dreams and aspirations.

OAT is equally committed to ensuring our staff are supported in reaching their maximum potential; and our newly introduced people strategy sets out how we will ensure that OAT is a place that people want to join and to stay a part of.

Our new CEO will be responsible for the articulation and effective delivery of the Trust’s vision and strategy, upholding the values of the Trust, cultivating an inspiring and supportive organisational culture, and of course delivering exceptional educational and sustainable financial outcomes for all the Trust’s academies.

To be successful in this role, you will have proven strategic leadership credibility, with an ability to engage and lead the organisation in a way that is authentic, collaborative, and decisive; able to work with the Board of Trustees and others to develop and deliver a compelling vision for the organisation, supporting OAT’s overall ethos. With knowledge of the education sector and of key issues affecting the education landscape at national level, you will be passionate about education and the role we play in improving and enriching people’s lives - both the pupils we serve and the people who work with us.

As we continue our brilliant journey, this role offers a unique opportunity for someone with the right leadership experience, drive and passion for education to lead our amazing purpose and values led organisation from strength to strength. About Ormiston Academies Trust

With over 40 schools – currently 32 secondary schools, six primary schools, three alternative provision schools and one special school across five OAT regions, the trust is one of the largest and longest standing trusts in the school system and is guided by our founder, Peter Murray’s belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive.

We provide pupils with the best learning opportunities in every classroom, in every school, every day. We are also committed to the learning and development that takes place outside of the classroom, and the enriching role that schools and education play in children’s lives.

Our schools are located across a diverse range of communities, each with its own unique character, strengths and challenges. OAT believes in the power of collaboration and working as one team across our schools. This collective approach is underpinned by our core values, which sit at the heart of the work across the trust. It is only through a culture of cohesion and shared endeavour, that we will deliver more for children and families.

There is much to be proud of at OAT, but the trust is not complacent and is committed to improving everything it does. Everyone who works at OAT plays a key role in our journey to both develop and deliver our strategy over the next five years.

We look for people who share our belief in the power of education to change lives for young people, and who have the intellectual, interpersonal and operational capabilities required every day to improve education at scale in a national organisation.
