Job overview

Equa Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a CEO; an outstanding strategic leader who can develop the Trust as we grow in a rapidly changing educational environment.

Our new CEO will be an enthusiastic, professional, and highly motivated individual with a clear understanding of how excellent leadership enables exceptional education. The successful candidate will be a senior leader who is innovative, hardworking, passionate, supportive, and open to new ideas.

Candidates will already have made a positive impact on pupil learning and will have a firm commitment to maintaining high standards, particularly in the context of current OFSTED requirements. Our CEO needs to have a demonstrable and successful track record in school leadership and a clear understanding of the strategic and practical elements of growing a successful multi-academy trust (MAT) and managing a significant revenue and expenditure stream.

As CEO you will be taking on the professional responsibilities of leading a charitable company with an annual revenue of more than £10 million with accountability to both Trustees and Government.

Evidence of your ability to lead, enable and empower those around you will be key to your success and the ongoing success of our Trust. You will have good communication skills suited to the groups you are leading.

You will be comfortable with managing a mixed MAT including both church and community schools and be willing to ensure the continuing Christian distinctiveness of our church schools.

You will be supported by our experienced Trust Board and CFO and will work with our Headteachers and Governors, to develop our Trust and ensure that both the MAT as a whole and its individual schools consistently achieve strong outcomes for all their pupils.

We want you to be outward facing, making connections with schools, trust leaders and educational organisations that will strengthen and inspire you in your role. We want you to have an ambitious drive to develop and grow our trust, gathering like-minded schools, while ensuring that we continue to provide Every Child with Every Chance.

If you are ready to respond to the challenge of being our Chief Executive Officer, you are requested to complete an application form and provide a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words detailing how your experience, competencies and skills align to the person specification and job description.

We welcome visits to the Trust from interested candidates. Arrangements can be made for onsite visits or to have an informal discussion with the Chair of Trustees at a mutually convenient time. Please email Anna Matthews at a.matthews@lavington.wilts.sch.uk with your contact details to arrange this.

Please return your application form and personal statement to a.matthews@lavington.wilts.sch.uk.

Please note that references will be requested only for shortlisted candidates prior to interview.

At Lavington School we pride ourselves on providing a secure, stable and well-ordered environment based on high educational standards and genuine care and concern for individuals. We work with all students, whatever their ability, to help them achieve their potential.

We aim for students to leave Lavington School as confident young people, ready to take on new challenges with a lifelong love of  learning.  Our students will have resilience and resourcefulness and the wisdom to treat others with respect and courtesy, and this forms the foundation of our ethos.

Our exam results have regularly been in the top 5% nationally and OFSTED judged the school to be 'Good with Outstanding Features' in July 2014. Important as academic achievement is, there is much more to life at Lavington School. We are well known for our successes in sports and outdoor pursuits as well as excelling in art, music and drama.

Many students are involved in charitable work and community projects both within school and the wider community. We are proud of our achievements at Lavington School, but there is always more we can do. By working together, we can shape a future for our young people in which they achieve more than they dreamed possible.

Lavington School is identified as being one of the most successful schools in the country and has been highly rated by Ofsted.  At the heart of this success are the core values that I and the whole school community believe are important:

  • Excellent teaching by experienced, specialist teachers
  • Individual care through an excellent pastoral system
  • High levels of achievement through a challenging academic curriculum chosen to give students the best life chances
  • Innovation in all aspects of education
  • Traditional values of behaviour, appearance and conduct
  • Developing personal leadership through a wide programme of extra-curricular activities.
