Job overview

Formed in 2014, Kenton Schools Academy Trust currently comprises two schools in the heart of Newcastle: Kenton School, a very large, well-established, successful 11-19 comprehensive secondary school, and Studio West, an innovative 11-19 school based on the studio school concept.

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and inspirational leader to join us in the role of Chief Executive Officer. As strategic lead and Chief Accounting Officer for the Trust, you will work with the Trust Board, Local Governing Bodies and Academy Principals to develop and implement the Trust’s strategic vision, whilst ensuring financial and statutory requirements are met.

To be successful, you will have:

  • a proven track record of highly effective system leadership and a background in supporting and driving school improvement;
  • a demonstrable record of success in organisational, people, resource and financial management;
  • a thorough understanding of the local and national issues surrounding the provision of secondary education;
  • the professional credibility and the interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills to engage all stakeholders positively.

But, more importantly, we are seeking candidates with an absolute commitment to our values and ethos, ensuring that all students across our schools achieve their potential, whatever their barriers.

In return, we offer the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of not only our two current schools, but the future of our Trust as a whole.

Closing date: 10.00am on 25th February 2019

Kenton Schools Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.

Vision and values

Outstanding teaching and learning for all students, so that knowledge is embedded and disadvantage is not a barrier to learning. All students reach their potential, so that they are well placed for life beyond school. Ensuring confident, happy and resilient students, who treat others with compassion and respect.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of pupils and to prepare them for life in modern Britain is also a real strength. Pupils discuss current affairs regularly through the systematic personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum.”
