Job overview

Westminster Academy specialises in International Business and Enterprise. It serves a multi-ethnic community in Central London, and at the heart of our approach is the personalised curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.

At Westminster Academy we believe that education is success. By providing all of our students with a world class education, we prepare them to be competitive on the international stage. We strive to be the best in every field, as is demonstrated in achieving our ‘Outstanding’ status. As a member of staff at a fast paced, forward thinking organisation, you will genuinely be changing lives.

We are looking for a driven, innovative and organised classroom teacher to join a dedicated and successful Citizenship department. In summer 2016, 85% of our students achieved A*-C grades in GCSE Citizenship and we are looking to further build on this success in 2017 and beyond. At Key Stage 4, we are delivering the final year of the current GCSE to our Year 11 cohort, whilst our Year 9 and Year 10 students are studying a new curriculum which focuses on developing the skills and knowledge for the new GCSE in Citizenship.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and excellent classroom practitioner who is committed to student success and development. Experience of planning and delivering GCSE Citizenship lessons is essential, as the successful candidate will continue to develop our existing curriculum provision, as well as continuing to plan for the new GCSEs for the first sitting in 2018. Some teaching of Key Stage 3 Humanities is also necessary as part of the role, so any experience of Key Stage 3 teaching is also essential. The willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities is also desirable. Most importantly, there is a real opportunity to contribute to a team that is making a difference.

What we offer:

  • an innovative educational concept
  • excellent programme of continuing professional development
  • be given the opportunity to develop personally and professionally
  • have the chance to shape the future of the subject
