Are you a creative, ambitious and passionate teacher in the early stages of your career? Thornton Primary is a large primary school in the Ward End area of Birmingham and we are looking for Key Stage 2 staff to join our professional and friendly team in September. We are proud of the improvements we have made over the last year which were recognised by HMI in their recent visit and therefore we are looking for teachers who can help us achieve ‘good (or better!)’ in our next inspection.
We are looking for teachers not only who can demonstrate high quality teaching and learning but who are also ambitious to develop their early leadership skills in a large school. We have a real determination to improve the life chances of our fantastic children and we are looking for teachers who share our passion, who are driven by a strong moral purpose and who are committed to helping us provide our children with a stimulating and exciting curriculum. Staff who can bring a subject specialism would be particularly welcome to apply as we continue to develop our curriculum over the next year. There may be a TLR1 available for this specialism.
If you are looking for your first move then please come and visit us and find out what we can offer. Please contact the school office to arrange an informal visit. If you would like to discuss these positions further then please contact Sue Simmons, the headteacher at s.simmons@thornton.bham.sch.uk.
Application pack is available on the school website under the vacancies tab.
Closing date: Monday 22nd May 2017.
Interviews: Will be held on Friday 26th May 2017.

Values and vision
Thornton Primary School works hard to ensure that its students have the necessary self-confidence and independence to properly progress in secondary education and beyond. Teachers focus on more than simply the academic aspects of schooling, however. The school also takes great pride in the cultural and social development of its children, with tolerance and understanding a major focus at all levels of the school.
Pupils are encouraged to remain active and inquisitive, so a great deal of learning takes place outside of the classroom and extra-curricular activities are encouraged.
