Key responsibilities:

  1. Planning and Preparation

  • Design effective learning sequences within lessons and across series of lessons informed by secure subject/curriculum knowledge.

  • Plan for progression across the age and ability range taught.

  • Have a flexible approach to planning and take advantage of learning opportunities that arise.

  1. Teaching

  • Teach challenging, well-organised lessons and sequences of lessons across the age and ability range.

  • Have high expectations of students to ensure that they fully achieve their potential.

  • Make effective personalised provision for all students taking into account their diversity and promoting equality and inclusion in teaching.

  1. Assessment, reporting and reviewing

  • Make effective use of the assessment, recording, reporting and reviewing systems in TBS.

  • Involve students in Assessment.

  • Know the assessment requirements and arrangements, including those related to external qualifications.

Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent) is essential.

  • Proven experience teaching Primary students, preferably in an international or bilingual context.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The British School, Rio de Janeiro (TBS), educates over 2000 students from the ages of 2 to 18 years within its three school sites across the city.
