We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic class teacher, who shares our passion for excellent teaching and learning. We pride ourselves on our inclusive approach that ensures all children learn in a way that they enjoy and allows them to succeed.

Biggin Hill Primary is a two form entry school situated on the edge of the Borough of Bromley in a beautiful rural setting. The school benefits from a range of indoor and outdoor facilities that support excellent teaching. Biggin Hill Primary was judged Good by Ofsted in April 2023:

  • Pupils thrive at this welcoming and friendly school. Pupils take pride in being responsible. .

  • Staff felt well supported and that their workload is carefully considered.

In April 2024 Biggin Hill Primary School joined the Inicio Educational Trust. This is an exciting development and will afford us the opportunity to collaborate and share good practice with those other schools which are also part of, or joining Inicio, whilst still retaining our individual identity and ethos. Inicio is currently exploring merging with SOLA MAT, which would create a trust with eight primary and four secondary schools.

THE PERSON

The person appointed to this post will:

  • Be an experienced qualified graduate with QTS or be an ECT
  • Be an outstanding classroom teacher or have the capacity to be an outstanding classroom teacher
  • Be committed to raising levels of achievement, with high expectations of children's learning
  • Possess up to date knowledge of recent primary curriculum developments and assessment
  • Have a positive approach to promoting excellent behaviour for learning
  • Be able to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Be enthusiastic and energetic with good organisational skills
  • Be committed to ensuring that all students reach their potential
  • Possess clear and effective communication skills with an understanding of the importance of developing positive relationships with children, staff, parents and governors
  • Have the ability to use initiative and make decisions
  • Have a flexible approach to the role
  • Have the ability to use ICT skills for both teaching and administrative purposes
  • Have a willingness to embrace change and maintain a positive enthusiasm for teaching and learning
  • Be committed to continued professional development
  • Have a commitment to equal opportunities and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

THE JOB DESCRIPTION

Professional Duties

  • To plan, prepare and teach the National Curriculum in line with statutory requirements and the school's schemes of work, ensuring teaching of the highest standard
  • To create a stimulating, organised, interactive and informative learning environment that encourages each child to achieve their potential
  • To engage in enquiry-based learning as part of the school's approach to strategic improvement in order to maintain and develop a teaching and learning environment of the highest standard
  • To work cooperatively as part of a year team, including planning for support staff
  • To monitor and assess pupils' work, using these assessments to inform planning and set targets that promote continuity and progression
  • To ensure the individual needs of the pupils are met through differentiated work, allowing for the highest standards to be achieved by all
  • To work in partnership with parents and other members of staff to promote the well-being and educational progress of each pupil
  • To follow school policies under the direction of the head teacher and deputy head teacher
  • To maintain good order and discipline within the class, in line with the school's behaviour policy
  • To actively take part in professional development, sharing expertise and experiences as required
  • To actively extend own professional learning via collaborative study, attendance at INSET and reading to keep abreast of new developments
  • To take an active role as a curriculum leader (N/A to ECT's)
  • Work alongside other members of staff to review and innovate the curriculum
  • To follow guidance and support from members of the leadership team in relation to utilising opportunities for further career development
