Job overview

Class Teacher

We believe that everything starts with our children and we are looking for teachers who believe the same

Monks Orchard Primary and Nursery School is a large, diverse, vibrant and friendly school based in Croydon Surrey. We are looking to recruit an inspirational and child centred class teacher from September 2017.

Do you remember why you chose to be a teacher?

Working with our children is extremely rewarding as they are well behaved and eager to learn. At Monks Orchard Primary and Nursery School we believe that everything starts with our children and we are looking for teachers who believe the same. We know our children as individuals, as young people with dreams and ambitions, skills and difficulties, loves and hates - not just as statistics. No generic, 'one size fits all,' scheme or programme can meet the needs of all of our children, so we plan and deliver our own exciting, creative activities that motivate, challenge and drive them to achieve excellence.

Feel supported in your career

We are incredibly proud of our team; all of our teaching and non-teaching team staff have demonstrated an unstinted commitment to the school's goals and are a key part of our success. All of our staff work together to help create a happy school where the working atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Our staff feel empowered to trust their professional judgement and that they can develop our children using their own creativity, style and flair.

Upon joining us you will be welcomed and supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic team who go out of their way to help each other.

We prioritise the development of our staff and value their wellbeing and we offer a varied CPD programme that includes both external and internal training sessions. Everyone has a role to play in the development of our curriculum and in the broader life of the school.

About Monks Orchard Primary School

We offer a warm welcome to you, and thank you for taking an interest in Monks Orchard Primary School.

Our school was built in 1936, as a single-form of entry, local authority school. We are now a thriving school with over 200 pupils, aged between 3 and 11 years. In 2018 we joined Fairchildes Academy Community Trust (FACT), a small, locally run multi-academy trust with a clear focus on working together to put children and families first.

We are extremely lucky to have a large site with substantial green spaces and a large forest/nature area. This allows ample space for games, and learning in the outdoors environment is a feature of all year groups’ learning.

At Monks Orchard, staff work together, sharing best practice in order to create a happy school, where the working atmosphere is informal but focussed. We place great emphasis on teamwork and developing together, and provide a wide range of opportunities for teachers to work together and with others both in school and across the trust. We recognise that this benefits everybody in the school community.

Our aim is to make children’s time at school as successful and enjoyable as possible. We encourage a close working relationship between home and school to support this aim and welcome parents’ active interest in both their child’s development and the general life of the school.
