BFS Naples in Italy provides education for primary children from 3 – 11 years. Proudly providing education for the children of UK MOD personnel assigned to NATO.
The British Forces School is part of Defence Children Services (DCS), who are a Defence delivery organisation, subordinated under Army Regional Command. Our Vision is that we Educate the Child – Support the Family – Defend the Nation. HQ DCS is UK based at Trenchard Lines, Upavon and has forward deployed staff all over the world. DCS is responsible for the education and care of children of accompanied Service and Defence entitled personnel in MOD schools and settings; provides advice and guidance in respect of education for service families in the United Kingdom and the wider world.
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.
This position is advertised as full time at 30 hours per week. Specially recruited for overseas service appointees are not expected to return to the UK

Person Specification
The following experience, skills, and qualifications are essential criteria for the role:
Essential
· UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and successful completion of Induction programme at the time of application.
· Strong subject and curriculum knowledge of the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage for England.
· Recent experience of teaching in a mainstream UK school or an MOD school in Foundation Stage.
· Setting high expectations and proven experience of ensuring good progress and outcomes for pupils.
· Plan and teach well-structured lessons and make accurate assessments that inform planning and enable pupils to improve.
· Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils.
· Manage behaviour effectively to create a good and safe learning environment.
· Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
· Proven track record of creating an inspiring and enriching learning environment.
The following skills and experience are desirable:
· Knowledge and understanding of supporting the needs of the children of military personnel.
· Demonstrates a resilient, passionate and hardworking outlook, flexible approach and projects a professional image.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and successful completion of Induction programme at the time of application.
· Evidence will be required at interview. All qualifications, licences or memberships declared must be held at point of application and if applicable be in date. Equivalents will not be accepted.
