Job overview
Athelstaneford Primary School is situated in the historic village of Athelstaneford midway between North Berwick and Haddington.
The catchment area embraces Drem, East Fortune, Camptoun, Newmains and the village of Athelstaneford.
The original building dates from the late 19th Century with a small extension added in 1996 to house a dining room/nursery class and office. As well as three classrooms and a central area for musical and other activities there is a resource room and staff room.
The school playground has an open aspect south towards the Lammermuir Hills and there is a wildlife are with a pond.
It is very much an eco school having recently achieved Green Flag status.
Athelstaneford Primary School has high expectations of its staff and pupils and has particular strengths in providing a caring, supportive and inclusive environment.
An active Parent Council and many interested parents have supported the school over a number of years.
The school caters for children from 3 to 12 years. There are currently 48 children in P1 to P7 and 18 children in our nursery.
Our catchment secondary school is North Berwick High School, most of our children transfer there.
The North Berwick cluster works well and is very supportive.
The school has enthusiastic children, supportive parents, committed support staff and dedicated teachers - a fantastic combination.
