Job overview

Ashbridge Independent School - Empowering young minds through respect and nurture

Ashbridge is an exceptional and unique independent school set in the rural outskirts of Preston and benefitting from 11 acres of beautiful grounds. Our facilities are second to none and we have a strong outdoor ethos with Forest School and Land Based Studies part of the weekly timetable for all children. We are looking for teachers who love teaching, who are keen to work hard and promote a love of learning, the highest of standards and a spirit of adventure in their pupils. Those who are innovative and creative and understand the importance of education in its widest sense. Experience of using technology creatively across all subjects and developing this area of the curriculum, particularly through the use of varied devices and Office 365 Education would be an advantage as we are developing a bespoke curriculum where the use of technology is fully embedded across the curriculum subjects and the outdoors.

We have an extensive programme of extracurricular clubs and activities, offer numerous trips over the year including residential trips for all juniors and provide many opportunities for children to perform and create; our school is busy but fun! Being a teacher at Ashbridge is highly rewarding with small classes, purpose built classrooms and first class facilities and, most importantly, the children and their families are amazing. Our new teacher will join a dynamic team of committed teaching and support staff who embody the values and ethos of the school and work together to provide the best possible start in life. Our academic scores are excellent, and pupils achieve highly in many other areas including sport and the performing arts. The pupils are respectful, hardworking, playful and they really love their school.

Interested teachers are strongly encouraged to visit the school between Wed 24th April and Wed 1st May. Visits can be arranged by contacting charlotte.binghambrindle@ashbridgeschool.co.uk. An application form should be completed and submitted to the email address above together with a supporting letter of no more than 2 sides of A4. The deadline for applications is Sunday 5th May and interviews will take place in the week commencing Monday 13th May.

Empowering young minds through respect and nurture.

We believe that the achievement of academic success and the nurturing of self-confidence and positive attitudes to life and learning lay essential foundations for a child’s future.

Our staff encourage children to achieve highly across a broad spectrum of learning experiences. Creative, artistic, social and sporting activities are promoted right from the start and this ensures that individual talents and abilities are quickly recognised and nurtured. Our curriculum is entitled the TAPESTRY with the seven threads of The outdoors, Academia, Personal development, Extra-curricular, Sport and health, The performing arts, Residentials and trips and Your voice woven together to produce a beautifully crafted education.

Vision

To instil in our children; a keen curiosity for learning, the confidence to be creative, innovative thinking skills, and respect for themselves, others and the wider world. To follow a nurturing ethos and build positive family partnerships which promote a happy and adventurous childhood.

Values

Our values are at the centre of the Ashbridge experience, and wholly based on what we believe children need to thrive. Whether a child is 3 months old or 11 years old, our values remain the same with the implementation of them tailored to each child’s needs, age and stage of development.

We are committed to:

  • Empowering children to achieve highly and experience success, realising their individual aspirations.
  • Respecting children and ensuring their voice is always heard.
  • Nurturing self-confidence and a positive attitude to life, encouraging resilience and the ability to learn from their experiences.
  • Immersing children in inspiring environments full of opportunities for learning, exploration and discovery.
  • Recognising and celebrating the uniqueness of each child to support their interests and help them to pursue their passions.
  • Providing extensive and varied outdoor learning experiences to allow children to develop a deep love and respect for the natural world and encourage a sense of adventure.
  • Prioritising the development of positive relationships to foster the qualities of kindness, compassion and respect.
  • Offering an innovative and well-balanced curriculum encompassing a broad range of learning opportunities.

The environment at Ashbridge is calm and purposeful, and the children benefit from small classes, significantly enhancing the opportunities for individual success. Peer work and shared activities ensure all the children know each other well and look out for each other. Ashbridge is a happy place to be.
