At Brabyns Preparatory School we pride ourselves on our warm family atmosphere in which all children are valued as individuals and are encouraged and inspired to reach their full potential within a disciplined yet caring environment.

We are committed to offering a first-class academic education within a forward-thinking and dynamic curriculum, in a way that is rewarding and engaging for children, parents and staff. We offer a rich and diverse experience for the whole school community including a wide range of academic, sporting, language and performing arts opportunities, plus an extensive extra-curricular programme. Our ‘Forest School’ provides a lovely bridge between formal and informal learning, equipping the children with the skills they need to face uncertainty and change with courage and resilience.

Our aim is to develop confident individuals and to enable them to realise their potential and contribute fully to the world in which they grow. We nurture every child’s individual talent and celebrate their achievements. Brabyns values its close partnership with parents; through working collaboratively we identify each child’s strength to assist in the pursuit of excellence.

Each and every child has a part to play in Brabyns’ life and every child is respected. By the time children leave us at the end of Year 6 they have built firm foundations not only for secondary school but for life ahead and move on with countless life-long memories.

If you feel that you hold the same values as us and possess the attributes that dovetail with the above position, then we shall be delighted to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly enthusiastic and qualified KS2 Class Teacher.

Brabyns Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  The protection of our pupils’ welfare is the responsibility of all our staff and individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of our organisation. The appointment will be conditional, subject to all satisfactory pre-employment checks being completed and confirmation of academic qualifications.  The post will be confirmed on receipt of all references and of a satisfactory outcome from an enhanced disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Please apply in confidence by completing the School’s standard application form (CVs alone will not be accepted). Applications should be addressed to the Headteacher, Mrs Lindsay McKenna and submitted along with a letter of application.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 31st January 2023. Interviews will take place during the week commencing 6th February 2023. If you have not been contacted by the interview date, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

At Brabyns, we enable all children to flourish. We are committed to providing each and every pupil with a stimulating and supportive learning environment which celebrates their unique character and capabilities, allows them to be themselves and enables them to achieve to the best of their ability.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be an exceptional school which stands out in the local community – a school where all children do their best and flourish, in an environment which fosters a deep love of learning through a wide and engaging curriculum.

How do we achieve this?

We have a holistic approach which through our main three aims inspires every child to reach their potential and to actively engage in all areas of School life:

We aim to nurture our children through a warm, safe, family atmosphere. We aim to provide outstanding pastoral care, enable confidence, celebrate every child’s strengths and recognise their differences, foster independence and self-discipline, behave responsibly and ensure the children have mutual respect and spiritual and moral awareness. We encourage cooperative learning and interpersonal relationships so children thrive as happy individuals who are well prepared independent learners.

We aim to engage our children by using every learning opportunity possible. We do this through stimulating teaching, extensive curriculum and extra-curricular activities in a wide-range of social, academic, physical and aesthetic areas, including within the local community, inspiring every child to explore, question and develop skills for life.

We aim to enable every child to achieve their best, be excellent citizens, knowing the difference between right and wrong. Every child is encouraged to strive for excellence and be proud of themselves in all they do, by developing their own strengths and unique talents, having a respect and enjoyment of learning, giving them the confidence to take on new challenges.
