Job overview
Knowsley Central School is a special school in Knowsley Local Authority that currently provides specialist education for 106 primary children aged 4 – 11 with severe and/ or profound learning difficulties.
A large number of children that attend our school have additional needs such as ASC, medical/ physical needs and communication needs that can often present as challenging behaviour.
School also provides SEND outreach for mainstream schools in the borough through its well-established Learning Support Service and Early Years Outreach offer.
With effect from September 2024, we are expecting our school pupil numbers to continue to increase to support SEND in the borough.
In school’s most recent Ofsted inspection in December 2019, school was judged as “outstanding” which is our 5th consecutive ‘outstanding’ judgement. The report includes statements such as:
- Pupils benefit from an exceptional standard of education at this school.
- Parents and carers talk about the school as being ‘life-changing’. Some parents say that life at home has improved because, since joining the school, their children are confident and happy.
- There is a culture of high ambition and pride in the school.
- This school lives up to its motto: ‘Everyone is a star and can shine in our learning community.’
An ability to support challenging behaviour and provide personal care will be required.
Experience of teaching children with severe learning difficulties and/ or the Early Years age range would be beneficial but not essential.
All successful candidates will benefit from a comprehensive CPD induction to support their new role in school.
