Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic professionals who have the vision and energy to sustain and promote the current standards of achievement and ensure the continued development and progress of the school.

Opened on 18th of October 2007, Moorfoot School was created from the merger of nearby Borthwick and Temple Primary Schools. Similiar in their traditional values and  community ethos, the schools have a shared past with close links and together are creating a superb school for the future in the Moorfoot area. The school covers a wide catchment, from Toxside through Temple to outer Gorebridge, North Middleton to Currie Inn. We are lucky enough to enjoy a top of the range school with high tech facilities yet in a rural setting, with classrooms looking out onto green fields.

Our Aims:
