Job overview

Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.

Bonnyrigg is a town in Midlothian, Scotland, eight miles southeast of Edinburgh city centre. It has a frequent bus service into Edinburgh provided by Lothian Buses and First Bus and will soon have a rail line linking Edinburgh and the Borders.

It is home to around 16,000 people and has a well established community.

Bonnyrigg has lots of local amenities, community groups and attractions including local football and rugby clubs, castles and businesses. Along with Lasswade, Bonnyrigg is a twin town with St-Cyr-L'Ecole, France.

Although it is only 15 minutes from Edinburgh City Centre, it is surrounded by lovely rural countryside, cycle routes and walkways.

Bonnyrigg Primary School is a newer build school and it has 15 primary classes and 2 x 60/60 nursery classes. The ethos of the school is very positive and staff are forward thinking and ambitious. We have good attainment and achievement and the pupils in Bonnyrigg deserve the best staff to support their learning and teaching to aim even higher.

There are 7 feeder primary schools for the local Lasswade High School which also has great aspirations for its pupils. All the local schools work together to ensure the best outcomes for the community we serve.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic professionals who have the vision and energy to sustain and promote the current standards of achievement and ensure the continued development and progress of the school.

Interviews for the above post will take place on Monday 19 December 2016

 Closing date: 09/12/2016
