Job overview

Join Our Team at St John’s CE Primary and Nursery School (N20)

St John’s CE Primary and Nursery School is seeking a passionate and committed teacher ready for their next step. This opportunity is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced practitioners who are dedicated to helping every child thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

At St John’s, we believe great teaching changes lives. We are looking for a motivated, reflective professional who will inspire young learners and contribute positively to our school community.

Why join us?

St John’s is a thriving, one-form entry school in the London Borough of Barnet with a genuine family feel. Every child is known, valued, and supported—and the same is true for our staff. We are proud to offer a welcoming, collaborative environment where colleagues enjoy working together and supporting one another.

Our most recent Ofsted report (July 2022) highlights:

“Pupils are rightly very proud of their school… They look forward to learning and, like their teachers, have high expectations. All pupils learn successfully here.”

About the role

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic teacher to join our team, likely in Key Stage 1 (flexible for the right candidate).

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners

  • Inspire and challenge pupils to achieve their full potential

  • Build strong relationships with children, colleagues, and families

  • Contribute positively to our supportive school community

What we offer
  • A nurturing, values-driven environment where wellbeing is prioritised

  • A strong and supportive leadership team

  • A collaborative staff culture

  • High-quality professional development and career progression opportunities

  • A happy, safe school where both pupils and staff flourish

  • Very well behaved and enthusastic pupils

  • PPA at home

  • Wellbeing days or flexible leave options

  • Close to public transport and off-street parking

  • Experienced and supportive teaching assistants

Our SIAMS inspection (July 2017) noted:

“The whole school community is highly motivated… sharing a ‘can do’ mind-set.”

Visits welcome

Prospective candidates are warmly encouraged to contact the school office for further information or to arrange a visit.

Applications and Interviews

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews may be arranged on a rolling basis. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should a suitable candidate be appointed, so early applications are encouraged.

Safer Recruitment

St John’s CE Primary and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be subject to a full Disclosure And Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed.
