Welcome to the world of Harbour International... and what a special world it is!

Harbour International offers a primary education which is designed to shape and develop children for the challenges of the 21st century.  All lessons are taught in English with the opportunity for the pupils to learn Dutch from a native Dutch speaker. The pupils experience Dutch culture through visiting the many museums and attractions in the Rotterdam area. Harbour International is part of a Dutch national educational foundation, subsidised by the Dutch government. This subsidy allows us to offer a high quality international education, in part, through small class sizes and high quality resources. The school was established in 1988 with 21 pupils and has grown in size and stature to a student body of close to 260 children.

About us

Pupils attending Harbour International represent a wide variety of nationalities and educational backgrounds. What they have in common is studying in the English language. Our staff are experienced teachers who provide a broad, balanced curriculum aimed at developing the pupils' knowledge, skills and understanding. Teachers continue to develop their skills through professional development courses both in The Netherlands and abroad and all staff are involved in learning communities reflecting and implementing new learning into their practice.

Our Aims

To meet the educational needs of our pupils, Harbour International uses the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and elements of the British curriculum to ensure and maintain a high standard of education for our pupils.

Our Educational Policy

The aims and principles of Harbour International are as follows:

- To develop the social, emotional, creative, cognitive and motor development of each pupil.

- To treat each child as an individual and to encourage them to develop into an internationally minded citizen of the 21st century.

- To develop the child's personal and social skills and encourage cooperation with other pupils.

- To develop the child's knowledge, skills and understanding across the curriculum.
