Job overview
Churchfields Junior School are seeking to appoint a Class Teacher from September 2026.
We are a warm, welcoming and ambitious school where children love learning and staff are supported to continually improve their practice. Our pupils are a joy to teach and our parents and colleagues work closely together to create a positive, respectful community.
We believe that great teaching is something that can be developed, and we are proud of the way we support teachers at every stage of their career to become the best practitioners they can be.
If you care deeply about children, want to teach well, and are keen to grow professionally within a supportive and structured environment, we would love to hear from you.
What we offer:
· A strong commitment to professional development, including the Ambition Institute’s Early Career Teacher programme and high-quality in-house coaching and mentoring
· A school culture that values learning, reflection and continuous improvement – you will be supported to develop your teaching, not expected to be “the finished article”
· Exceptionally well-behaved pupils who are eager to learn
· A clear, well-sequenced curriculum rooted in a knowledge-led approach and informed by Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction, with guidance and resources to support your planning
· Specialist teachers for Music, PE, French, D&T and Art, allowing you to focus on the rest of the curriculum
· A modern, well-resourced building with staff car park, cycle facilities and excellent transport links (near the Central Line)
· A large staff room with free refreshments and a fully automatic coffee machine
· Extensive grounds including a field, pond and woodland area
· A strong commitment to sustainability and environmental education
· A school with 150 years of history of educating the community of South Woodford
· Three days-in-lieu for staff who attend residential trips
· A proactive, visible and supportive leadership team
We are looking for a teacher who:
· Has secure subject knowledge or a strong desire to develop it further
· Is reflective, open to feedback and committed to improving their practice
· Communicates well and builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
· Is enthusiastic, warm and professional, with a genuine commitment to helping every child succeed
· Believes that high standards are important and is motivated to grow into an excellent classroom practitioner
This post would suit an Early Career Teacher or a more experienced teacher seeking a supportive school where professional growth is prioritised.

Our School
An education at Churchfields is broadly traditional, academic and rigorous. We provide pupils with an education that equips them with the knowledge, skills, cultural capital and confidence they will need to thrive in their next stage of schooling, university and beyond.
Inspiring Excellence
We work hard to provide excellence and expect pupils at school and at home to work hard too. We want parents and carers to play an active part in their child’s education and to support our staff.
We provide a school where pupils can concentrate and where they feel safe to work hard and learn from excellent teaching and a rich curriculum.
History
Churchfields Junior School is situated in South Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge. Our school opened in 1874 and is 150 years old. It has occupied the same site over three centuries. In 2011 a rebuild was completed.
