Uffculme School is seeking a committed, skilled and enthusiastic experienced Teacher, with high expectations for all pupils, to join our strong and friendly team.
Uffculme School offers co-education for children and young people of the ages 3 to 19 years from all parts of the city. Our students represent the wide cultural mix that makes up the general population of Birmingham. We are a successful school with a long and proven track record of providing high quality education for young people with a primary diagnosis of ASD. We currently cater for over 300 children over three sites.
The successful candidate for this post will have the experience and enthusiasm to take the next step in your career. You will be able to evidence your contribution to date in special school environments, as well as demonstrate your ability to work as part of a wider team to support staff in achieving the best possible outcomes for students. You will have had experience of working with a range of different needs and have some knowledge and understanding of how to utilise different communication methods to enable all students to be heard.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for ensuring that all children have access to high quality education, tailored to their individual needs, who also wants to develop their skills as a teacher further.
We require a candidate who:
Is a qualified teacher
Has experience of working in a Special school
Has significant experience of working with children and young people with Special Needs, specifically ASC
Has knowledge and understanding of meeting the needs of a range of children and young people with complex learning needs
Has experience of leading and managing a team of teaching assistants
Is able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Understands the need for confidentiality
Is familiar with the unique processes, challenges and opportunities present in Birmingham
Is an excellent communicator with the ability to show sensitivity and objectivity in dealing with confidential issues
