Hawkswood Primary Pupil Referral Unit & SEMH Provision

Our Management Committee is looking to appoint an outstanding professional with a proven track record of leading and managing successful schools or settings.

Hawkswood Primary PRU and SEMH Provision is a complex PRU that offers outstanding specialist provision to children aged 4-11 with a high level of social, emotional and mental health needs. These children find it difficult to sustain placements in mainstream schools.

Children are referred from every primary school/academy in the London Borough of Waltham Forest because they are at risk of permanent exclusion. The majority of pupils attend the school for a short period of intervention before returning to mainstream education.

A smaller group of KS2 pupils have an EHC Plan and attend the school for longer in accordance with their additional needs.

Ofsted graded us outstanding in 2015.

Our dynamic team are exemplary role models, educating and nurturing each child, enabling them to make accelerated academic progress and return to mainstream school.

Our school is a brand new purpose built building located in on the very edge of Epping Forest.

This is a very exciting time for Hawkswood Primary as we are increasing the number of Nurture Groups we offer in response to a change in local need. We are part of the Nurture Group Network and this aspect of our work is held in high regard throughout local primary schools and academies.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to build on existing successes and someone who:

  • Is resilient, inspirational and nurturing
  • Demonstrates exceptional work ethic
  • Has outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Can provide strategic support to all primary schools/academies in LBWF
  • Has been successful in engaging hard-to-reach families
  • Remains calm under pressure

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure.
