Our ambition on providing a high-quality education is unwavering. We seek an enthusiastic, determined and standards orientated individual to ensure our pupils receive the exceptional education they deserve.

About Us

Currently a one form entry school, we are excited to be growing and expanding into two form entry as our pupil numbers continue to increase year on year. We are very fortunate to have a brand-new building that provides us with a bespoke environment to benefit both children and staff. Working with staff to create an effective and efficient working environment is important to support the wellbeing of all our staff. We value our team and hard work and recognise the importance of appreciating this. Therefore, the school strives to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of staff through rewards and benefits.

Walthamstow Primary Academy is focussed on making a positive impact to pupil outcomes and are committed to using educational research to enhance the experience of both teachers and pupils. With this in mind, we aim to further pupil progress and teaching practices to best support our staff.

We are a hard-working team, where all staff are encouraged to develop themselves and to take ownership to be a leader in their own role. We are passionate about developing leadership at every level and committed to working with staff to facilitate their continuous professional development. There are numerous training opportunities for professional development, and the chance to work alongside other schools within United Learning. In addition, we also work closely with our six sister academies within the East London Primary Cluster.

Visits to the school are strongly recommended. Please get in touch at and we would be delighted to show you around. Please call 020 3475 3490 to arrange a visit.

The right candidate will have:

• A positive outlook and a resilient nature

• A commitment to developing their own, and others, teaching practice as part of a team

• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment that values each other

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

United Learning

We are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

About Walthamstow Primary Academy

About Walthamstow Primary Academy

As a brand new school, Walthamstow Primary Academy has the opportunity to embrace everything that today's parents and children want in a highly successful primary school. The primary expertise, vision and ambition of the Headteacher and staff team is fundamental in meeting the aspirations of families, United Learning and the local community.

Vision and ethos

All United Learning schools are linked by the shared aim of bringing out the best in everyone - pupils, parents, staff and the wider community. The successful candidate will also be able to develop a unique, school and community-specific ethos for Walthamstow Primary Academy to sit alongside United Learning's core values.

Location and building

Walthamstow Primary Academy is in the heart of Waltham Forest and situated adjacent to United Learning's Walthamstow Academy; a popular and oversubscribed secondary school.

The primary academy will benefit from a brand new school building, which is planned for completion during the next academic year. The building will be bright, welcoming and well-equipped to support the school's educational provision. The successful candidate will feed into the process of choosing resources that best suit the plans for the academy.

Curriculum

Walthamstow Primary Academy aims to make learning enjoyable, challenging and engaging for all pupils - whatever their abilities and interests. There is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to design and shape the academy's curriculum, which will equip pupils with the necessary literacy, numeracy and ICT skills to succeed across all subjects.

Extracurricular activities and extended school day

To broaden and deepen pupils' understanding of the world, Walthamstow Primary Academy offers a vibrant enrichment and extracurricular programme that includes music and physical education.

Partnership with families and the local community

Partnerships with families is vital to pupils' success and parents are regularly and actively engaged in their children's education. The academy also takes seriously its wider responsibilities, embedding community links for the benefit of both pupils and local people.

Admissions

Walthamstow Primary Academy currently has one Reception class and one Year 1 class, with a new intake of 30 pupils due in September 2017. Once moved into the new building, we will become 2FE and will grow to a capacity of 420 4-11 year olds. As an all-inclusive school, the academy's places are open to children of all backgrounds and abilities. The admissions arrangements are in line with those of the London Borough of Waltham Forest, and children with Education, Health and Care plans that name the academy are admitted first.

Governance

Walthamstow Primary Academy is accountable to a Local Governing Body (LGB). The LGB monitors academic achievement, well-being of pupils, financial management and input on future plans for the school to deliver excellent opportunities for the children and young people of Walthamstow.
