Williamston Primary School is a non- denominational school serving the Murieston area of Livingston. Currently the roll is 48 with 64 children in the nursery. Accommodation consists of 14 open plan classrooms; one closed classroom, a nursery which also provides wraparound service for nursery and P1-P3 pupils, a Support for Learning room; a library, a large gym hall and small hall.(dining hall). The school is surrounded by large open grassed playing field edged with trees which provides provision for outdoor learning. . The staff team consists of the Head Teacher, a Depute Head teacher, a Principal Teacher (Nursery and Early years) and a Principal teacher (Additional Learning Needs). Specialist teachers deliver PE, Art, Outdoor Learning and Drama. We are part of a supportive and proactive The James Young High School cluster. We benefit from a cluster Active Schools Coordinator. We have a visiting specialist for brass instruction one morning per week and woodwind instruction one morning per week for pupils in primary five to primary seven. There are three full time equivalent pupil support workers who are allocated between all classes in the school. The admin staff, janitor, cleaners and kitchen staff complete a team dedicated to the welfare of the children at the school.

Williamston Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive school where children are respected as individuals and encouraged to participate in the life of the school. We celebrate opportunities to succeed in every area of the curriculum as well as wider achievements. We have recently been awarded the International Education Award for continued commitment to Learning for sustainability and our Connecting classroom links with a school in Mumbai India. We have also been awarded the Sport Scotland Gold award for recognition in PE and sport in our curriculum. Educational visits, both locally and further afield, are an important part of the life of the school. Williamston Primary offers a curriculum, based on the four capacities linked to curriculum for excellence and it is our aim that we will succeed in making every child: a successful learner; confident individual; responsible citizen and an effective contributor. A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
