Harrysmuir Primary School is a non-denominational school with a roll of 412 primary school children. The school currently sits within decile 2 on the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) and the Free Meal Entitlement (FME) is 29%. The School currently has 16 classes and a nurture class. The Head teacher also has responsibility for the leadership and management of two Early Years Centres (Inveralmond Early Years Centre and Ladywell Nursery School). The management structure consists of a Head Teacher, 2 Depute Head teachers and 2 Principal Teachers. Targeted intervention plans and resources has allowed the school to employ a Family Support Worker, a part time Speech and Language Therapist and 2 additional Pupil Support Workers. Harrysmuir Primary School has a very successful Breakfast Club which is well attended. The school has an excellent relationship with Inveralmond. Cluster Schools and works in partnership with local community groups, including Ladywell Regeneration Group.

The advertised post is to teach a Primary 2 class in the first instance however this may change for session 2019/20 based on the needs of the school.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
