Class Teacher

Balbardie Primary School is a non-denominational school with a roll of 430 primary school children serving the town of Bathgate. The school currently has 15 mainstream classes and 3 specialist autism classes. Balbardie is proud to be part of a learning community with Bathgate Early Years Centre and Bathgate West Nursery. Bathgate Early Years Centre and Bathgate West Nursery have a capacity of 70/70 and 60/60 respectively. The senior leadership team, which currently consists of the Head Teacher, 2 Depute Head Teachers and 3 Principal Teachers, have leadership and management responsibility for all 3 settings. The school and early years settings enjoy an active and involved Parent Council and relish every opportunity to be involved with the wider community of Bathgate. 22% of the school’s pupils are in receipt of free school meals and the school benefits from a diverse catchment population and area. The school works very closely with the other schools in the Bathgate cluster and engages in cross sector improvement work. All members of the school community believe that everyone has the right to ‘Achieve, Believe and Celebrate’ and the school works in partnership with parents/carers and other agencies to create an inclusive, ambitious environment where children develop resilience and respond positively to challenge.

The advertised Class Teacher post is for a committed professional to lead learning and teaching within a mainstream class in Balbardie PS in the first instance and to join our enthusiastic and committed team.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary
