Class Teacher

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our successful, dynamic and evolving school team within Winchburgh Primary School. The school is a non-denominational primary with a rising school roll, currently standing at 258 primary children and a recently extended 66/66 early learning centre. The school benefits from a diverse catchment area with a Free Meal Entitlement of 14%. The school presently shares a campus with Holy Family RC Primary School. 

Winchburgh is a rapidly expanding community due to significant house building in the area. Both schools work together to effectively utilise the shared campus and there are rich opportunities for joint working. A recently completed extension has provided a new Early Learning Centre and has also created two further early years classrooms.

The school is currently staffed by the Head Teacher, 1 Depute Head Teacher, 1 Principal Teacher and 15 Class Teachers, a number of whom hold development post-holder roles. In the ELC there is an enthusiastic and expanded team of Early Years practitioners. The school is supported effectively by a team of Pupil Support Workers, who assist pupils across the school. Admin and clerical support is provided by 1 Administrative Assistant and part-time Clerical support. The school runs a very successful Breakfast Club. The school also benefits from a supportive and active Parent Council.

Distributed leadership is promoted across the whole staff. Staff demonstrates strong collegiality and teamwork which maintains and enhances a positive climate for learning across the school.

Our school improvement priorities focus upon delivering “Excellence through raising attainment and achieving equity”. The school had a positive visit from Her Majesties Inspectors of Education at the end of October 2019.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
