Class Teacher

Class Teacher, Woodmuir Primary School, 17.5 hours per week, Closing date 28th February 2021

Woodmuir Primary is a small non-denominational rural school serving the village of Breich and the surrounding area. The role this session is 16 pupils organised in two multi-composite classes. The school is situated in the village of Breich and is part of the West Calder High School cluster. The Head Teacher has a remit for two schools which are in different cluster groups. This year we have a 0.5 Head Teacher and a 0.5 Acting PT. We have one full time teacher and two part-time teaching staff and a visiting music specialist. This session there are two pupil support workers, breakfast club and lunch staff, a cleaner/caretaker and an admin assistant. 

The school works hard to identify and overcome barriers to learning and prides itself on providing an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all our children. We have very good links with parents and this helps the school to support and inspire its pupils to become confident, successful and responsible individuals within their school and community. The school has strong community links and works in partnership with the local management committee. 

We are recruiting a 0.5 Class Teacher to join our staff team at Woodmuir Primary School. We invite applications from dynamic and inspirational individuals who have had experience of teaching all stages across the school and of teaching a composite/multi composite class.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
