Polkemmet Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the community of Whitburn. The school accommodates 8 primary classes and a nursery.

The school and nursery is currently staffed by a Head Teacher, a Principal Teacher, 12 Teaching staff, a nursery nurse, 4 Pupil Support Workers and 2 Office staff. The school also has part time specialists in Art, Music and Science.

The school roll is currently 199. The school is situated in an area of multiple deprivation with many pupils attending from Deciles 1 and 2, this provides an exciting opportunity for the school to address the ‘closing the gap’ agenda. The staff work hard to identify and overcome any needs and the school prides itself on providing an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for our children and their families. We believe that children have to be well, to do well and that we can empower them to ‘be all they can be”.
