Plus, special needs allowance £2539 PA

John Chilton School is a special school judged as Good with Outstanding aspects (OFSTED November 2018) for pupils aged 4 to 19 years, with cognitive difficulties with or without a physical or medical need. Applications are invited from excellent teachers who have an interest in working with pupils with special needs; ECTs are welcome to apply.

John Chilton School is based across two sites The successful applicant must be able to commit to working at both sites as required.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching and having a pastoral responsibility for a small group of pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties, physical or medical needs or SEMH difficulties;
• Take specific responsibility for the management and organisation of subjects and the subject leaders on one of the school sites
• To lead and manage the quality of education across the curriculum ensuring continuity in relation to whole school developments

Required:

• Significant experience of teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs
• Experience of teaching across a variety of age ranges relevant to the post.
• Recent experience of successfully leading an area within a group or department.
• A clear understanding of the essential qualities necessary for improving the quality of education
• Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance relating to the post.
