Job overview

Primary Class Teacher with TLR (Permanent) Start Date January 2019

  Dear Applicant

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider this exciting post within our school. I have been in post as Headteacher since September 2017 and I have been incredibly impressed with so many areas of the school. The children are amazing and the heartbeat of our school, they are proud to be a part of HLC and work tirelessly to achieve their very best every day. Our most recent Ofsted supported my initial views and the fact that we have been oversubscribed for a number of years must suggest that our families and community are overwhelmingly supportive.

It is an exciting time for our school as we have become an academy and joined the Learning Community Trust. The Trust is based at HLC and its foundation is the success of our schools since it opened in 2006. This seamless transition to academy status will link us with a number of other primary schools in the local area which over time will provide a superb network of support, driving learning forwards within our community.

This is an exciting opportunity to join HLC Primary phase as we continue to expand our school to three form entry.  HLC Primary has a proven track record of excellence and strong staff development.  We provide excellent CPD for staff at all levels and many staff who joined us initially as NQTs have successfully secured promoted posts either within our school or in other schools.  We have a fantastic team of experienced teachers who are always keen to welcome new staff to our school.  All teachers work in planning pairs or trios so new staff have the benefit of working with someone who is able to guide them in relation to school policies.

From September 2016 we have taken 90 children into our reception year group in three classes of 30, the school is now expanding naturally over the next few years so that there are three full classes in each year group.  We have a team of 17 class-based teachers who work in a year group trio in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and year group pairs from Year 3 – Year 6. An additional full time teacher works in the Local Authority Nursery. Currently the school also employs 2 additional teachers across the school to provide management release time.  We are organised into working teams: Early Years team, Y1-Y2 team, Y3-4 team and Y5 - Y6 team. We have a dedicated PE specialist teacher on the staff who supports our children to access a range of sports and also works closely with our onsite secondary school whose specialist teachers also deliver lessons in the Primary Phase. Each teaching team has a Team Leader who oversees the day to day working of the team and is responsible for standards and progress of the classes they manage. The Primary Management Team consists of four senior staff, and Team and Subject Leaders, who lead the work of the school at a strategic level. There is an extensive team of support staff including Pastoral staff, Special Support Assistants and Bi-lingual Teaching Assistants who work across the school to meet the needs of the pupils.

The school adopts a flexible approach to the deployment of teaching staff and primary teachers can expect to work across a range of age groups over time.  We will discuss with candidates their areas of strength during the interview process and take into account their aspirations for their future career.

The post is an exciting opportunity to be part of leading edge developments in education. We are looking to appoint a teacher who will fully embrace the opportunities that HLC has to offer and lead in a key area, depending on the candidates strengths.  A comprehensive CPD and induction package will be designed for the successful candidate. Visits to the school are welcomed, please call Emma Petford 01952 387088 to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.

HLC Primary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people in our care.  We expect staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

 Salary & conditions

The post is permanent and will be paid on the Main Pay Scale following the current Conditions of Employment as set out in the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document.

Values and vision

With the community at the centre, our school strives to offer a world-class curriculum with enrichment opportunities that will equip our pupils to succeed and thrive. The ethos of the school is one of positivity, determination and drive to achieve each individual pupil’s potential. Each success and step towards progress is celebrated and the culture of the school is one of development and innovation as we work together to achieve our aspirations.

Hadley Learning Community Primary Phase is a truly inclusive school that passionately cares about every child. We create an environment where the children feel safe, happy, confident and inspired to learn.

The Children at Hadley Learning Community Primary Phase are the heartbeat of our school and benefit from the design of an all-through school. They have access to outstanding secondary facilities and use of resources in subjects such as technology, the arts and sport, which out-weighs what most other primary schools are able to offer. Additionally, staff and children benefit from access to specialist teachers and benefit from the close links with secondary students who can act as mentors and we can facilitate pupils learning alongside each other.

For a number of years the primary phase has been oversubscribed suggesting that our families and community are happy with the quality of education our pupils receive. From September 2016 we admitted 90 children into our Reception year group in three classes of 30, the school will continue to expand in this way year on year so that there are three full classes in each year group by 2022. It is an exciting time to be part of the school’s expansion and be part of our positive journey to improve the outcomes for each child. Embedded in our culture is the desire to reach our potential in all that we do; the children and staff are proud to be part of HLC and work tirelessly to achieve their best.
